Pieter J Van Meenen 



Chef Pieter’s earliest culinary inspirations were Jack Tripper, The Swedish Chef and Wok with Yan (“Wok and Roll”!!!).

Pieter was the first in his family born in Canada so there was a lot of Dutch influence in his early culinary background… Yet he still developed an amazing palette… I mean really “raw herring and cheese with a Grolsch”? Actually that sounds good…

Chef has always had a passion for food, cooking, eating, and learning about everything he could get his hands on. At age 11, Chef was catching crabs and serving his parents’ guests crab canapés. Chef started his culinary career cooking fish and chips on White Rock Beach, and gained experience in every type of cuisine he could find. After graduating on the Dean’s list at Dubrulle Culinary institute (The Art Institute), Chef gained experience from some of the best at a 5 Diamond luxury hotel in downtown Vancouver. Over the years Chef had the opportunity to learn from many talented and gifted mentors.

You may think the last thing a chef would want to do when he gets home is to cook dinner. But one of Chef’s favourite things is to prepare and sit down to a home cooked family meal. It’s the best way to connect and find out what is happening in every one’s life… good food, health, and happiness brings us together!

Family is the most important part of Pieter’s life, and so when he joined the Giggle Dam team he was thrilled to find that he was part of another amazing family.
